Welcome Graduate!

High school is a very important time in the life of a young person. When it comes time to graduate from high school I consider it the first major milestone of your life and I will make it a very big deal. If you have this same way of thinking, then the experience I have to offer will be perfect for you. During your senior year of high school, you will want to have a way to remember all of the accomplishments you have had and show the world what you have become. The best way to do this is through a senior photo shoot. If you are considering a senior photo shoot you will find that the best time will be during the spring. Times fill up quickly so you should contact me now regarding your session.

I am the leading photographer of high school seniors. What this means for you is that you will learn that I am committed to giving you the best photography experience as well as beautiful senior pictures. You will want this so that your senior pictures will last you a lifetime. My job is to take your portraits and turn them into images that you will adore and will never forget. I look forward to meeting you!! And hope you feel the same way!

Before anything can happen you will need to lock in your session date and time. This is an easy process. You can call me regarding the date and time. Once that is settled on I will send you a link that you can sign your contract and make your down payment. Once that step is completed we can then decide on the location. I have a list of locations where you can make the portrait magic happen. I can offer you anything from a nature shoot to a city shoot. This is a decision that only you can make. This is what makes it personal.

At this time, it is a great idea to start thinking about what you want to wear. If you are stumped you can refer to my website where you will find ideas for outfits, poses, hair, and makeup. These are all ideas that have been done during previous shoots. I recommend that you bring at least three to four outfits to change into. You should wear what you feel most comfortable in but a few of my favorite ideas are layers, dresses that flow and chunky jewelry. Before your photo session we will meet to go over all of your clothing choices to be sure that everything will look perfect during your photo shoot. Another thing that I recommend is that you get your hair and make up professionally done. Some might not think that it will make a difference but believe me when I say that it makes a huge difference! Another special treat you could give to yourself is a manicure and a pedicure. It is true when it is said that a camera will see everything. The appearance of your nails is completely up to you. Skin and any other minor imperfections that pop up at the last minute can be retouched but unfortunately nails are not part of this deal. And besides who does not need an excuse to get pampered! Your senior portrait session should be all about you! We will go over all of the details and discuss what you want out of this experience before your actual session. You should not be shy or afraid to tell me about any ideas or suggestions you may have as well as anything that you may not like. I want to hear it all.

It is important that during your shoot you relax and have fun. It is my job to make you feel comfortable. I will do this by giving you different ideas and different instructions during the session. It has been my experience that some of the best photos are ones that are candid. This is because when I capture a candid shot it is when you are most relaxed.

A typical senior portrait session will take anywhere from two to three hours. This will include as many outfit changes as we can fit into this time period. It is normal for you to be nervous when we first begin but this will usually go away after a few minutes. Depending on the location of your photo shoot you may or may not have facilities to change your clothes in. For this reason, you should plan on changing your clothes in your car or a good idea is to wear clothing underneath such as biking shorts and tank tops so that you will not be getting changed in public. Your mode of transportation to the session and between the different locations is to be provided by you. If you would like your parents are more than welcome to join us but be prepared I may include them in a few of the photos.

About two weeks (maybe sooner) after your session your photos should be ready to view. This is known as a viewing and proofing gallery. We will agree on a time to meet. During this time, I will show you all of the pictures that were taken and explain to you all of the collections and cart options that are offered. There are many options so it should not be too difficult to find one that will be suit your needs. There are also heirloom products available so you will have a wide selection to choose from.

It is my policy to only release images that have been fully edited. What this means to you is that all of the images have been retouched, prepped and made perfect for the world to see. Now that your order has been placed you should have your package within a timeframe of three to four weeks.

A popular question by seniors is what clothing and accessories should be brought. There is not a right or a wrong answer to this question. In my opinion you should bring it all! This includes all different types from casual to formal wear. It is important that you remember to bring shoes, jewelry and accessories for each outfit that you bring. It does not matter what season we are in when your session is done. Your photos can represent all of the different seasons therefore if it is summertime but you have a favorite winter outfit bring it along. It is my recommendation to have both an outfit for each of the seasons. These will go with several different choices of backgrounds. It is always a good idea to bring some options that include long sleeves. This will help to keep the focus of the portraits on your face and not the rest of you. The clothing choices you make should be ones that you are comfortable in but also flatter your body type. Be sure to pack everything and do not forget anything that you cannot live without. Examples of somethings that should be included are your favorite t-shirt, hoodie, jeans or even a hat or a pair of sunglasses. You should also remember to bring your clothes for the picture that will be included in the yearbook. To prepare yourself for your senior session you should get a haircut about a week before your shoot, polish your nails, and be sure that you avoid any suntan lines. These can be unsightly in pictures.

Your senior pictures should be all about you and what you are about. This is where props come into play. Be sure to bring a few things to your session that will help to define you. A few examples are your pet, your car or motorcycle, any sports uniforms, trophies, instruments, or even your best friend or siblings. These props will help for us to capture what you are all about but in a way that is very special. The best news is that you will never pay an extra charge for this option.

It is never a good idea to change your hair style in a dramatic way before your portrait session. As mentioned before it is recommended for you to get a haircut about a week before your scheduled session. If you are a person that colors your hair do not forget to do so. No one wants to have their roots showing in their pictures. Even highlights should be completed about two weeks prior to your session to keep them from standing out in the images. If you would like to change your hairstyle during your session that is fine and a great idea but you should make the changes easy and be sure that they do not take a lot of time. If they take too much time you will end up losing time in front of the camera.

In today’s world tanning has become very popular. However, it is important that you do not over do the tanning bed or time in the sun. We recommend that you stay away from the sun and/or a tanning bed three days before the session.

Props are a good idea

What to do with my hair?

Tanning

Make Up A general rule of thumb when thinking about your make up for the session is to use the make up that you would normally wear on a day to day basis. If needed you can add more when you get to the studio but if you put on too much prior to the studio it will take time to take off and start all over. Be very careful when putting on your eyeliner and your mascara. You want to avoid clumps and a look that appears to be heavy. The camera will magnify these and will not look attractive in the portraits. If you have skin that appears to be oily from even your skin type or even from warm weather, you can control this shine by using a translucent powder. This will remove the shine but will not add color at the same time.

The company that the school hires is only there to take the picture that is going to go in the school’s yearbook. For your actual senior pictures, you can hire any photographer that you wish.

I will give you the individual attention that you deserve. You have come to a major milestone in your life and you should have the best images available to you.

Do I have to use the school’s yearbook company?

Why should I hire you to take my pictures?

Be sure to compare pricing. Often times the high volume photographers that the school hires are more expensive than I am It really depends on the package you achoose

Of course it is. I want all of our clients to be 100% satisfied. This should be a fantastic experience during your senior year. If you are not happy with your session in any way, please let me know and I will refund your session fee.

Are you more expensive than the school photographer?

Is your work guaranteed?

There is not a set number of poses during your session. This session will be customized to fit your needs as well as the outfit changes and the props that you bring with you.

How many poses will I have?

Blemishes happen so you should not be worried about that. No one has perfect skin and I am prepared for that. Make up will help to cover up most blemishes but even if it does not I can retouch the images to remove any blemishes that can be seen.

Once you have decided to select me as your photographer you should contact Me by telephone or even by email. We can then reserve your day and time and you can put down the deposit to hold it for you. I am so exited that you have selected us for your photography needs! We cannot wait to meet you!

What happens if I have an unexpected blemish?

How do I reserve my session?
